Brooklyn’s history begins in the mid 1800’s and includes positioning on a railroad route, which influenced the village’s growth. The annual Depot Days celebrates the history of the railroad, and the community’s development. Residents enjoy rides on working rail cars, model train exhibits, and art and craft sales. Outdoor opportunities include the Brooklyn Wildlife Area, a 3000 acre area designated for hunting and fishing. Other hiking, biking and ATV trails are nearby.
Brooklyn Real Estate
Buyers looking for a rural home will not be disappointed. Some of the properties in the area are situated outside of the village, and include significant acreage. Within the village, tri-level and ranch homes are common, and historic farmhouses are also available. A significant portion of the real estate in town can be found for less than 200,000. New construction opportunities are available in Brooklyn Commons, and in a variety of outlying areas.
Brooklyn participates in the Oregon school district. Brooklyn Elementary School is in town, and Oregon Middle and High Schools are about 8 minutes away in Oregon. Homes situated outside of the actual village may also participate in Belleville or Albany School districts.
